Let me say here and now that I disagree w/ the title of this entry. My suggestion: “in between naps and crunchies, the birthday boy takes public transportation to the fridge.” I was told this title was too long, that it ‘exceeded character count guidelines.” My reply: ‘your face exceeds dork guidelines!’

Yep, I hit the big OCHO today, a milestone that seemed a bit on the ‘iffy’ side a few years ago when my life consisted of a small metal cage and a surly Persian roommate.

The years fly by fast when your ears are on top of your head [where they should be!] I found a Cat’s Age Conversion Chart and felt thoroughly gypped when I discovered that if I were a two-legger [shudder!] I’d be 48! Yep, that really made my day!

Actually, I’m OK w/ my age. Maybe 8 is the new 6, huh? Anyway, I’m going to spend my birthday at home [duh!], take a few naps, make a few trips to the crunchy bowl, see if I can catch a William Powell/Myrna Loy movie, you know, the usual stuff.

Oh yeah, and maybe see if I can coax ‘DIEZ Y SEIS’ to be a little less ‘iffy.

Here I am trying some MMA moves I saw on TV against a very worthy foe [straight out of my toy box!] This is a classic match-up of ‘Feather-Deal’ a skillful technician who’d rather keep things upright [and in the air] and me, WUBERT, much more of a rough and tumble ‘ground and pound’ kitty.

Who’ll win this bout? I’m not saying [hint--me!] Though I outweigh Feather-Deal by a few oz’s, my conditioning could play a factor if FD can withstand my early onslaught and survive past the bout’s early stages [ie, past the 5 second mark.] Good luck to both participants [especially the winner, ubert-way!]

I’ve created a Wubert wallpaper, based on the iPoster I wrote about yesterday. I originally made the wallpaper for my own monitor setup [it's the 1680x1050 widescreen version.] However, upon doing that, I came upon the brilliant idea of making a few slightly different versions for additional monitor/resolution setups. The wallpapers are also available in my downloads, etc section.

For this past Christmas, I gave the perfect present to my roommates–a poster of me, WUBERT! I made it on one of their Macs when they went behind the door one morning [they pretty much do that each and every morning at a set time--whatta bunch of robots!] The actual poster is 20″x30″, so the version you see here is scaled down somewhat.

Mentioning robots reminds me of a movie I saw when I was a kitten, “Tobor the Magnificent”. All these years later, whenever I think of the word “robot”, my brain automatically shifts from ‘Drive’ to ‘Dyslexic’ and ‘robot’ transforms into ‘TOBOR THE GREAT’! I like robots–but only klunky ones! For this reason, Tobor, Robby from Forbidden Planet, and the Lost in Space Robot make up my holy triumvirate of klunky robots [though I have to admit that Tom Servo is my fave of faves.]
